During all of the Rover missions, there are peculiar rocks or boulders that look like they are broken open and there are sometimes contents inside. Often the 'eggs' are mostly empty with sand having been blown in and accumulating. But the idea I have on this is that during a past cataclysm either a deluge, lava eruption of just a plain old explosion caused by war or similar, that regular mundane objects of life were enveloped and trapped. Now after thousands of years of eroding on the surface they have broken open revealing their interiors. Think along the lines of Pompeii. Beneath the ash, the entire city was encased in the exact way it existed before the volcano exploded. I have collected the most obvious images so far from the Jezera Crater courtesy of the Perseverance Rover. I will plug more in here as I find them. But they are ubiquitous and can be seen on almost every image containing numerous boulders and rocks.

This to me is one of the best examples of an object being covered in a cataclysm. Look closely at the slot. It is formed by folded and bent metal (or similar) and is encased by material. Looks like a trash can or a mailbox hidden within.

This is a complicated image. The main boulder is solid, opening to the left. Exposed is a box like object. It is surrounded by the rims of the Egg. The rims are actually serrated giving a white dot effect. This effect was seen elsewhere by Rami from the Curiosity Rover I think.

The top right rock is amazing. It is covered and breaking open over all, the left of the boulder has a tongue sticking out. Lava flowing to its end? The other main rock is also an Egg that is breaking open. Notice the columnar object below the central Egg, it could be carved on its' surface.

There is one large central Egg here. Notice that the end has broken open and there are two smaller rocks inside.A second rock below right has lost its entire outer covering. We can see it just above the ground. I'll bet you can find at least three other examples in this image, that I didn't bother to note.

There are two main Eggs I have noted, there are also another three in the image. Have fun identifying them, they're easy to spot. There is also what looks like a handbag in the center of the image. below left of the larger Egg. Handbags are everywhere in ancient sculptures.

This image has one medium and one small EGG where part of the covering is peeling off. The insides have not yet begun to deteriorate. On the right side of this image is a really large boulder that is composed of multiple types of material, including An outer covering on the left side. Fascinating how it must have been created.

This is a fairly unusual Egg.Note there is definitive forms and shapes within.

There is a small Egg at the top left edge, but the layered boulder in the center is at the heart of how Eggs come about. In this case it is only covered on the top, indicating that the covering material only got half way through its job.

Jim. The large egg-shaped rock with smaller stones inside (Figure 1) reminds me of round Sumerian clay envelopes with tokes enclosed (Figure 2). Figure 1 Egg-shaped rock with stones inside. Neat Thanks George for offering some context for these eggs. They are all over the Jezera crater. I saw them in earlier images as well as the current groupings. I might find the time to go backwards and look for more.

Jim here is another opened egg-shaped formation. This was found by Jean Ward on September 14, 2023 in PERSEVERANCE Sol 907 (9/8/2023) Figure 5 Sunny Side Up Detail of PERSEVERANCE Sol 907. Notice the saucer-shaped formation with a small rounded stone in the center. Its top (or lid) is in the foreground. NASA Link: Sol 907 GJH
