Here is a crater found in the northern Elysium Planitia area. It is a little more than twice the diameter of the famous Meteor Crater in Arizona. It was formed by the impact and subsequent explosion of a meteorite.
Note the round shape of the crater, the thin rim wall and symmetrical ejecta blanket.
Now look at the Dome/Crater
Notice the thick, uneven crater rim and the large ejecta apron, which appears symmetrical around the two formations. Note also that there is no evidence of an ejecta splash over the dome/mound.
The evidence suggests that some time after the crater was created a polygonal dome/mound was constructed next to it. The construction of the mound expanded the scarp and the apparent symmetrical shape of the overall apron.

Last night on Fox News (8/18/10) Glenn Beck revealed Native American Ancient Mounds...most notably the octagon and circle earthwork built in Ohio - which The Cydonia Institute has documented, has a set of twins on Mars.
Here is the official release of the segment - offered by the award-winning film make, Rick Stout who has just released a documentary titled "The Lost Civilizations of North America" – The documentary – of which Glenn Beck uses as a source for the show -is a powerful film that gives answers to the question of why...we haven’t heard about the great civilizations that existed on the North American continent and why theories about their origins have passed out of place and time.

George, I have a problem with your comparison of the mound and crater to the Maya Ballgame. I do not see how it is valid. For one thing this crater is not a symmetrical ring. Also, the Maya Ballgame does not use a backboard and horizontal hoop. It uses a wall and a vertical ring.

This Mars mound and crater is another partial image. When I showed you the “Kissing The Ring” figure it was not the asymmetrical original MRO it was the duplicated image as seen here. When I said a ring, I did not mean a circle, I meant a ring that one wears on the finger. This can be seen when the image is rotated so the longest linear edge of the mound is vertical and the half image is duplicated. Note I also see the location of the eye differently.

More interesting however is the 52 degrees line you have pointed out above. If you invert your above image and do a duplicated split along this 52 degrees line you come very very close to getting the other image I sent you last year with the face in the crater. Whether you believe that it represents a person in a space helmet or not I don't think really matters. It is pretty hard to ignore this as an intended image.
